For the last year the Society has run an account on Twitter, a social medium not embraced by everyone. It does seem, however, to be a useful vehicle among musicians in publicising performances, and
reviews and general comments thereafter, as well as on those days when there is a sudden cancellation or change of performer or venue to be ‘Retweeted’ to notify one’s Followers. We would of course notify our Society members by post or email of anything important, but we Tweet as well. It gives the Society good publicity too. We shall not be using Facebook. As at 1 November 2015 our Society’s Twitter account is being Followed by 108 individuals - performers, choirs, orchestras, publishers, agents and many others who are not professionlal musicians but simply interested in Bliss’s music. In turn we are following 69 similar names, and we ourselves have posted 80 Tweets. Here are a few examples of how we used Twitter when we started a year ago: Tweets can only have 140 characters, hence all the abbreviations. We shall add some more recent Tweets here from time to time.
